Four University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing faculty members have been appointed to leadership positions in the newly formed National Association of Family Nurse Practitioners. NAFNP is the first specialty-specific organization committed to serving family nurse practitioners and providing them with an education and clinical practice home. The organization’s goals are to provide FNPs with mentorship, leadership and networking opportunities, continuing education and career support.
Assistant Professor Alice Bristow DNP, CRNP, FNP-BC, CNE, BC-ADM (BSN 2006, MSN 2012, DNP 2019), Assistant Professor Lauren Mays, DNP, CRNP, FNP-BC (BSN 2008, MSN 2010, DNP 2018), Assistant Professor Emily Patton, DNP, CRNP, FNP-C (MSN 2013, DNP 2020) and Associate Professor D’Ann Somerall, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC (BSN 1995, MSN 1999, DNP 2011), are founding members of NAFNP and recently were appointed to national committee leadership positions.
They will work with NAFNP to advocate for family nurse practitioners and help empower them to provide evidence based, high-value care for patients across the lifespan.
