University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Family, Community and Health Systems, Marisa L. Wilson, DNSc, MHSc, RN, CPHIMS, RN-BC, FAMIA, FAAN, has been elected to serve as the representative from the American Medical Informatics Association Nursing Informatics Working Group to the International Medical Informatics Association.
Wilson will represent U.S. nursing informaticians to the international organization, serving a four-year term and acting as a voice for AMIA to the IMIA Nursing Informatics International Congress.
The International Medical Informatics Association’s Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group (IMIA NI SIG) encourages members to share and promote scholarship and evidence helps better understand how nursing informatics facilitates clinical practice, nursing education and research.
“I am honored to be selected to serve in such an important role furthering the understanding and knowledge informaticians can provide to improve patient outcomes in clinical settings,” said Wilson. “As a board certified informaticians with more than 15 years’ experience as a nurse clinician and 25 years implementing information systems in public health and acute care settings, I look forward to promoting the use of informatics on a larger scale in everyday practice."
