University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Associate Professor and Co-Coordinator of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner Subspecialty David House, DNP, CRNP, ENP-C, FNP-BC, CNS, CEN, CNE, FAEN, has been selected for the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners. The AAENP serves as the voice for nurse practitioners in emergency care.
“I am honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve at the national level and look forward to working with the AAENP board and membership,” said House, a founding member of AAENP. “The American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners promotes high quality, evidence-based practice for nurse practitioners providing emergency care for patients of all ages and acuities in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.”
House has more than 23 years of experience in administrative and clinical roles, and has practiced as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner for more than 14 years. He has served as AAENP’s Lead Regional Director since 2019 and Bylaws Committee Chair for two years. Most recently, he served as co-author of the 2021 ENP Competencies.
“UAB is one of only 15 validated ENP academic programs in the United States that educates and prepares future nurse practitioners to provide high-quality, evidence-based emergency care for all ages and acuities in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team,” House said. “The work I will do with AAENP will allow me to apply the UAB SON’s core values of innovation, collaboration, diversity, and excellence to both entities.”
House is a Scholar with the UAB Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation and a Fellow of the 2019-2020 UAB Interprofessional Leadership program.
