Shirey named to health care board
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing Chair of the Acute, Chronic and Continuing Care Department and Professor Maria Shirey, PhD, MBA, MS, RN, NEA-BC, ANEF, FACHE, FAAN, has been installed as a Director-at-Large on the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) Board of Directors.
Her two-year term began on Jan. 1, 2018.
Shirey will also continue to serve as Editor in Chief of the Journal for Healthcare Quality, NAHQ’s peer-reviewed publication which is the premier resource for scientific solutions in the pursuit of health care quality.
In her distinguished career, Shirey has held a variety of positions including bedside critical care nurse, nursing director and hospital vice president. As an educator, researcher and practitioner, she has focused on building leadership capacity for quality and safety.
She has been a member of NAHQ since 2004.
