Transfer & Non-Traditional Pre-Orientation Checklist

Immediate Next Steps to Register for Classes:

Complete the pre-orientation Canvas course before you are advised by your Academic Advisor. The course opens on March 15.
Check your UAB email for advising information from your Academic Advisor. After you complete the Canvas course, your assigned Academic Advisor will email your UAB email address with instructions and information about class registration. You must be advised before you can register for classes. Note: your UAB email account will not be set up until 1-2 days after completing the Canvas course.
Take Course Placement Assessments or submit proof of transfer credits. Complete this step as soon as possible and no later than 2 weeks before you are advised to ensure you register for the correct classes.
Register for Classes when your time ticket opens and once your Academic Advisor clears you. You can find your time ticket on BlazerNET by clicking on the Registration tab. Students are expected to register for classes before attending orientation. Instructions for class registration are available in the Canvas course.
Attend in-person Blazer Beginnings in its entirety - your class schedule will be dropped if any portion is missed.
- Did you choose an on-campus session? Take a look at your on-campus schedule.
- Did you choose a virtual session? Check your email 7 days before your orientation to find your schedule and Zoom links for live programming.

Request a final transcript be sent from your last college institution attended as soon as your final grades have posted, if you haven't already done so.
Send AP/IB scores to UAB. Scores cannot be pulled from another college’s transcript.
Submit a photo for your ONE Card at least 2 days before your orientation date.
Change your major at least 1 week before your orientation (if necessary).
Request disability or dietary accommodations for orientation at least 2 weeks before orientation (if needed).
