Connecting on campus

In addition to the wired network, which is among the fastest in the academic community in Alabama, the WiFi network at UAB supports the academic, research and administrative work of the UAB community. The network serves classrooms, common areas, green spaces and many other popular areas around campus. Guests and first time users should use the UAB Start Here network. This is not a secure network. UAB students, employees and faculty should use either the UAB Secure network or the Eduroam network. BlazerID and password required.

Eduroam

UAB is a member of the Eduroam WiFi network. Eduroam provides a free, secure WiFi service that allows UAB users to log in to WiFi at participating universities with their BlazerIDs. Representatives of participating Eduroam universities can also log on to the WiFi network at UAB with credentials from their institutions. Learn more about Eduroam and find out about participating institutions.

Dorm WiFi

Student access to both wired and wireless networks in UAB’s student residence halls is on separate non-UAB network served through Apogee ResNet Service. Students should direct all questions or concerns about connecting to the wired or wireless network in their residence halls directly to the Apogee Help Line at 866-478-8865. Outside the residence halls, students should continue to connect their devices to the UAB WiFi network.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Users who need to access the UAB network while off-campus can establish a VPN connection.
