Christopher Henrich is professor and chair of psychology at UAB. He researches an array of factors — including different forms of violence exposure and social support — and how they interact in relation to youths’ academic and behavioral adjustment and well-being. He is particularly interested in development over key educational and other ecological transitions, and in at-risk populations. Current funded projects include collaboration with colleagues at Georgia State University on an evaluation of a skills mastery and resilience training program developed by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and collaboration with WestEd on a National Institute of Justice Comprehensive School Safety Initiative in the Atlanta Public Schools. Prior to coming to UAB in 2021, Dr. Henrich was on the faculty at Georgia State University for 20 years, where he chaired the Department of Psychology for six years.
