Alumna elected national board chair
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing Alumna Bonnie Pilon, PhD, NEA-BC, FAAN has been elected to chair the board of directors for the National Nurse-led Care Consortium (NNCC), formerly known as the National Nursing Centers Consortium.
Pilon recently completed 15 years as Senior Associate Dean at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and was named professor of nursing, emerita last month. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing from UAB in 1988.
The NNCC is a nonprofit professional organization existing to support and advocate for nurse-led and nurse-managed care. The group advances nurse-led care as a quality solution to health care needs and disparities.
Pilon has served on the board in various capacities for more than 15 years.
Well-known for her work focused on access to care and improved clinical models of care delivery, Pilon has assisted institutions with development of clinical integration strategies and tools, redesign of organizational structure to optimize quality and efficiency, preparation for The Joint Commission, outcome measurements, and design/redesign of clinical pathway and case and disease management systems.
She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and was named a UAB School of Nursing Visionary Leader in 2010.
