“AIDS in Africa: The Plague That Thunders,” a short film by Dr. Michael Saag, director of UAB’s Center for AIDS Research, and his teenage son, Harry Saag, will be featured during Birmingham’s Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival. The film is a documentary that depicts AIDS in Zambia — the current situation and what is being done by the United States and UAB to combat the epidemic there.

A question-and-answer session will follow the screening. Panelists will include Harry Saag; Dr. Michael Saag; Rob McDonald, medical student and former assistant to the director of UAB’s Center for AIDS Research; and Maggie Mumbi-McDonald.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from the Alys Stephens Center box office at 1200 10th Avenue South. The cost is $6 for Thursday, $12 for Friday or $25 for the weekend.
