Choosing Your Internship Program
International internships provide students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in class in a workplace abroad, build their resume, and create a global professional network. There are a variety of internships available through our affiliate providers International Studies Abroad and CISAbroad.
Internship placements are customized for each student and any major can participate in an internship abroad. Students may have the opportunity to participate in an internship that is combined with their academic coursework abroad—ask your affiliate provider about this opportunity!
Next Steps
Once you have decided that you want to intern abroad with an affiliate provider or to organize your own international internship experience:
- Start a UAB Education Abroad application.
- Meet with UAB Education Abroad Advisor to discuss the application process, placement timeline, and options to earn credit.
- Meet with your Academic Advisor and/or Department Chair to discuss credit. These internships are credit-eligible, but students will need to identify which route they will pursue to earn credit.
- Visit the Career Center to have them review your resume and cover letter before providing them in your affiliate application.
