Department of Curriculum and Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) provides high quality learning experiences, equally divided between undergraduate and graduate programs. The department offers degree programs at all academic levels which emphasize learning in all contexts.

Students can pursue graduate programs which position them to serve in areas including Learning Design and Learning Sciences, School Psychometry, and School Psychology.

At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, we prepare students to thrive within concentrations and contexts of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Arts Education, English as a Second Language, and Special Education.

Our programs are led by expert and passionate faculty, committed to upholding our shared School of Education and Human Sciences values: integrity, respecting all people, collaboration, excellence and achievement, stewardship, and accountability.

Department of Human Studies

The Department of Human Studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) offers degree programs at all academic levels within five areas of study:

  • Community Health and Human Services,
  • Kinesiology,
  • Counseling,
  • Educational Leadership, and
  • Higher Education Administration.
