We offer the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Community Health and Human Services (CHHS). Students pursuing a B.S. in CHHS may choose a concentration in either Health Promotion and Education (HPE) or Human Services (HS).
The CHHS program also offers minors in Community Health and Human Services to all UAB students. CHHS majors concentrating in Health Promotion and Education can minor in Human Services; those concentrating in Human Services can minor in Health Promotion and Education.
Note: Programs highlighted in blue are offered fully online.
Beta Chi Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma
Beta Chi is the UAB Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma, an honorary organization whose mission is to promote the discipline of health education by elevating the standards, ideals, competence, and ethics of its members. Undergraduates are eligible to become members of Beta Chi after completing two semesters of college work. Visit the Eta Sigma Gamma website or contact campus advisor Dr. Larrell Wilkinson for more information about the organization and its membership requirements.
Peer Education
CHHS trains undergraduates to become peer educators who in turn promote health-enhancing change among their fellow students. Peer educators share health information with students and serve as role models for them by practicing social behaviors consistent with good health. Interested students should sign up for one of our peer education courses (CHHS 426).
