University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Master of Science in Nursing student Fredrick Richardson, BSN, RN, has been named among the National Black Nurses Association’s (NBNA) “40 and Under” awardees for 2019. Richardson is one of 17 nurses selected for the honor.
Richardson was honored at the NBNA 2019 “40 and Under” Awards Ceremony in New Orleans, Louisiana as part of the association’s 47th Annual Institute and Conference. Honorees included clinicians, academicians, researchers and entrepreneurs, many of whom helped to start chapters within the NBNA, actively serve on NBNA committees or hold leadership roles in other health organizations.
Richardson is an emergency department nurse at Madison Hospital in Madison, Alabama and a member of the West Alabama Black Nurses Association. He is currently enrolled in the School’s Nursing Health Systems Administration Specialty, which is ranked sixth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for 2020.
The mission of the NBNA is “to serve as the voice for Black nurses and diverse populations ensuring equal access to professional development, promoting educational opportunities and improving health.”
