BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Students in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) professional schools will pay their respects to those who donated their bodies in 2009 for scientific study through the Anatomical Donor Program in a service of gratitude Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in Volker Hall Lecture Room A, 1670 University Blvd.
The service will be conducted by members of the schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Nursing and Health Professions.
More than 250 family members and relatives of the donors in 2009 are expected to attend the annual service, along with UAB students and faculty. Organizers hope the ceremony will express their profound gratitude to those who selflessly have provided this fundamental support for their health-care education.
The service will feature remarks from students, a candle-lighting ceremony to acknowledge the donors and instrumental musical selections performed by class members.
