Wednesday, September 24, Photo-Op: UAB Helps Middle and High School Students Engineer Their Futures

UAB and its School of Engineering will host the Blazer B.E.S.T. robotics competition on October 11. A total of 24 teams from the region’s middle and high schools will participate, using UAB supplied components and parts to build robots that will be run through an obstacle course at Bartow Arena.

UAB and its School of Engineering will host the Blazer B.E.S.T. robotics competition on October 11.  A total of 24 teams from the region's middle and high schools will participate, using UAB supplied components and parts to build robots that will be run through an obstacle course at Bartow Arena. B.E.S.T. robotics is a national program designed to promote engineering and science in the country's classrooms.

On Wednesday, September 24, students from one of the participating high schools will be working on their robots from 1-2 p.m. at Oak Mountain High School, located at 5476 Caldwell Mill Road.

The Dean of UAB's School of Engineering, Linda Lucas, Ph.D., said the Blazer B.E.S.T. robotics competition is "the state's future engineering workforce development, step one."
