Upon completion of this conference, attendees will be able to:

  1. Outline the stages of neural development and describe some of the more common malformations thereof.
  2. Describe what constitutes the Neuro NICU and how it improves neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  3. Review the pathogenesis and classification of intraventricular hemorrhage and discuss how it influences neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  4. Discuss the pathophysiology of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, how it is managed and its neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  5. Delineate the causes of neonatal stroke, discuss its presentation and impact on neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  6. Describe the causes and presentation of neonatal seizures, how they are managed and how they affect neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  7. Discuss the importance of nutrition on neurodevelopmental outcomes.
  8. Delineate the various neurodevelopmental outcomes following newborn intensive care.
