Research and Teaching Interests: Metals characterization, manufacturing of metals

Robin Foley specializes in the characterization of metals for manufacturing. She has won a number of awards for her research and this year, will receive the Scientific Merit Award from the American Foundry Society.

She is currently both the undergraduate program coordinate and ABET coordinator for Materials Engineering at UAB. She is also active in improving safety at UAB. She recently served as co-chair of a task force for increasing the culture of safety at UAB and she serves as chair of the UAB Chemical Safety Committee.

Robin Foley teaches the introductory materials engineering courses for industrial distribution students and for biomedical, mechanical and materials engineering students. She also teaches both undergraduate and graduate characterization of materials. She has twice won the UAB Presidential teaching award and in 2011 won the Ellen Gregg Ingalls UAB National Alumni Society Award for Lifetime Achievement in Teaching.
