UAB Collat School of Business students recently honored four professors with the fifth annual CSOB Teaching Excellence Awards. The teaching awards honor one professor in each academic department and in the graduate program and are voted on by Collat students.

Jennifer Edmonds opens a new website
Accounting and Finance Department
Dr. Edmonds is an associate professor of accounting who teaches MBA 603 (Internal Tools for Investment Risk and Profitability). She joined the faculty in 2013 after earning her doctrate in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institue. She earned the Provost Award for Transformative Online Courses in 2023 for engaging online students.
Alicia Clavell McCall opens a new website
Marketing, Industrial Distribution & Economics Department
Clavell McCall is a senior instructor teaching the BUS 350 (Professional Business Communications) courses required of all Collat business majors. She joined the faculty in 2011 and earned her master's degree in creative writing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Oluwafemi Akanfe, Ph.D. opens a new website
Management, Information Systems & Quantitative Methods Department
Dr. Akanfe is an assistant professor of information systems and teaches courses in business programming and information security. His areas of expertise include data privacy, regulatory compliance, cultural, and behavioral cybersecurity issues impacting the use of digital financial innovations. His research has been published in leading IS, security and management journals, including the Journal of the Association for Information Systems and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. Prior to academia, Dr. Akanfe worked at one of the Big Four consulting firms, providing statutory audits of financial statements and audit risk analysis for multinational corporations such as ExxonMobil, Oando PLC, and Sahara Energy Ltd, among others.

Dr. Edmonds is an associate professor of accounting who teaches MBA 602 (Essential Skills in Financial Reporting and Analysis). He joined the faculty in 2013 after earning his doctrate in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institue. His areas of expertise include municipal debt pricing, the impact of organizational form on decision making, and accounting education. Before entering academia, Dr. Edmonds worked as a software developer, creating solutions to put newspapers online.
