Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 .
  • 3-5+ years of professional experience preferred.
  • Quantitative Requirement: The UAB MBA Program requires that students have completed the equivalent of a pre-calculus course with a grade of C or better within the past five years. A free, self-paced pre-calculus tutorial and quiz is provided online for admitted students who do not meet this requirement and must be successfully completed before the start of their first term. Students can enroll in the pre-calculus proficiency exam after registration for their first term by contacting Christy Manning, Administrative Director, Graduate Programs at cmanning@uab.edu.

Documents

The GMAT application requirement is currently being waived. Applicants will be evaluated using all other listed requirements.  However, students who need to strengthen their application may want to consider submitting a GMAT score of 480 or higher.  

  • Online application, including three professional letters of reference and transcripts.
  • Statement of purpose.
  • Current resume detailing work experience.
  • Kira Talent Assessment.* 
* Once your application is moved to "Under Review," you will receive an email link to access the Kira platform. This talent assessment consists of five questions, four requiring video responses and one requiring a written response. This assessment takes the place of an in-person interview and allows the admission committee to meet you virtually and evaluate your personal qualities, soft skills, and characteristics for fit with our program.

International Applicants Only: Additional Requirements

  • TOEFL IBT score of 80 (minimum of 20 in each subscore) or IELTS of 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in each subscore) or Duolingo composite score of 140 (minimum of 120 in each subsection).
  • Application is required at least six months in advance of the deadline to ensure time for transcript evaluation and processing of all Visa paperwork. 

Transcript Evaluations

Applicants with coursework earned from institutions outside the United States must provide a course-by-course foreign college transcript evaluation of all attended non-U.S. institutions.* We will accept a transcript evaluation from any NACES accredited evaluation company. To determine academic eligibility for admissions, academic credentials must be:

  • Translated to English;
  • Evaluated course-by-course;
  • Include the overall academic GPA; and
  • From an approved third party company. We will accept a transcript evaluation from any NACES accredited evaluation company.

SpanTran created a custom application for UAB that will make sure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application through the SpanTran application – The University of Alabama at Birmingham portal opens a new website.

International Student and Scholar Services will have access to your decision and a representative will contact you directly if any other documentation is necessary to begin processing your immigration documents.

*UAB will complete the evaluation for institutions outside of the United States if they are on a 4.0 grading scale. UAB reserves the right to request a NACES-accredited evaluation if a determination is made that the evaluation cannot be completed internally.
