Transcript Evaluations
Applicants with coursework earned from institutions outside the United States must provide a course-by-course foreign college transcript evaluation of all attended non-U.S. institutions.* We will accept a transcript evaluation from any NACES accredited evaluation company. To determine academic eligibility for admissions, academic credentials must be:
Translated to English;
Evaluated course-by-course;
Include the overall academic GPA; and
From an approved third party company. We will accept a transcript evaluation from any NACES accredited evaluation company.
International Student and Scholar Services will have access to your decision and a representative will contact you directly if any other documentation is necessary to begin processing your immigration documents.
*UAB will complete the evaluation for institutions outside of the United States if they are on a 4.0 grading scale. UAB reserves the right to request a NACES-accredited evaluation if a determination is made that the evaluation cannot be completed internally.
The records of students who have not registered for courses for one year or more will be removed from the UAB computerized registration system. Such students must apply for readmission before they may register again.
Degree-seeking students who:
have been absent one year but have registered for and passed at least one course at UAB within the last five years,
have not attended any other university or college in the interim, and
wish to return to the graduate program to which they were earlier admitted
may complete the Application for Re-admission to a Graduate Degree Program form and pay the required processing fee. These readmitted students must meet the degree requirements operative at the time of re-admission.
Students who wish to return to the nondegree category after an absence of one or more years must submit a new Nondegree Application form along with the required processing fee.
When any individual applies to a graduate program, a major part of the admissions decision involves an estimate, based on the applicant's academic history, of whether the applicant can perform satisfactorily at the graduate level. To be readmitted, applicants who have previously been dismissed from the Graduate School must present convincing evidence to the faculty and the Graduate School dean that a substantial improvement has occurred so that it is probable that the applicant can now perform at the required level in graduate work.
After a student has been dismissed from the UAB Graduate School, no new application for admission (either as a degree-seeking student or as a nondegree student) will be considered until at least two regular terms have passed.
The non-degree category serves students who do not wish to pursue a graduate degree at UAB, as well as those who wish to begin graduate study before being admitted to a degree program. Non-degree seeking admission is available for those that meet all admission requirements or already hold a master's degree. Students with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher may apply for non-degree seeking admission with approval of the MBA program manager. Non-degree seeking students can take up to 12 hours of coursework, and must be cleared through the Graduate School of Management to register. Degree seeking students have priority to courses.
Because of U.S. immigration requirements, international applicants (i.e., those who are neither U.S. citizens nor permanent residents) cannot normally be considered for the non-degree seeking category unless already residing in the United States. Immigration laws should be consulted to determine eligibility of students.
