Krystle Glasgow, CNMT, NMTCB(CT), NMAA, a teacher in the UAB School of Health Professions, has been recognized as a Fellow by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging – Technologist Section. She is one of only three in the state of Alabama to earn the prestigious honor.

The SNMMI-TS selects Fellows based on exemplary contributions in the following areas: participation in professional activities, education, professional experience, professional contributions, and civic activities.

“I am passionate about what I do and this profession, and I am honored to be named a Fellow – this has been a life goal for me,” said Glasgow, who also serves as clinical coordinator for the UAB M.S. in Nuclear Medicine Technology program. “I am thankful for the support here at UAB and the School because they encourage you to take advantage of opportunities to volunteer and become more involved that many can’t do in a clinic setting.”

Glasgow has long served the SNMMI at every level of leadership. At the national level, where she has served as Secretary and currently serves as a Member-at-Large, she has served on seven committees including Membership and Women in Nuclear Medicine, which works to promote women physicians and scientists and address current problems in the practice of nuclear medicine.

In the national Technologist Section, she has chaired multiple committees. At the regional level of the TS, Glasgow has served as treasurer, president-elect and currently as president. Locally, she has served as president of the Alabama Society of Nuclear Medicine.

“I don’t do anything to earn praise or recognition – I do the work for the Society because I love nuclear medicine in what we do and what we represent,” said Glasgow who is also an alumna of the UAB MSNMT program. “But I would be lying if I didn’t say it feels really nice to receive this recognition and this validation of my career’s work. There is a sense of pride knowing that my fellow members believe that what I do makes a difference.”

In 2019, she was a member of the UAB research team that earned the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Education and Research Fund Joseph J. Kleiner Award for Best Paper.

In 2019, Glasgow was named to the SNMMI inaugural “Ones to Watch” list. It featured 30 rising stars in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging under the age of 35. Two years’ prior, she earned the Southeastern Chapter of the SNMMI Distinguished Service award. It is not an annual award – it is only delivered when the chapter president wishes to honor someone for their service.

Glasgow earned the credentials Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) in 2010, the Nuclear Medicine Advanced Associate (NMAA) in 2014, and the Certified Computed Tomography Technologist (NMTCB(CT)) in 2015.

She is a member of the Alpha Eta Honor Society, a national honor society for the allied health professions, and Secretary/Treasurer of the UAB Chapter. She is also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective honor society.

Prior to joining the UAB Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences in 2015, Glasgow worked for Brookwood Medical Center (today, Brookwood Baptist Health) in several roles including Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Manager of Imaging Services, Nuclear Medicine.
