Each year, UAB’s School of Health Professions recognizes faculty and staff for their contributions over the past academic year. The Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences is honored to share that Klaressa Washington, Program Manager II, received the staff award for Excellence in Service at this year’s celebration.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Alabama Rivers Alliance presented Taylor Stewart with the 2026 Emerging Leader Award.

The UAB M.S. in Health Administration program is once again the #1 “Best Health Care Management Program” in the nation according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. And the UAB School of Health Professions has four programs ranked among the Top 25 graduate programs in the United States.

In the fall of 2023, the UAB School of Health Professions launched an undergraduate program in Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Science. This year, the program unveiled a minor option to the program.

Have you ever watched a medical drama where doctors, nurses, and family members are trying to diagnose unique symptoms in their patients? There are musical montages of reading medical textbooks, trying new treatments, and seeking advice from others until–magically–someone finds the answer in the form of a rare disease.

Inspired by the compassionate care she has received from Physician Assistant (PA) Amalee Smith, PA-C, Donna J. Slovensky gave $30,000 to the UAB School of Health Professions to establish an Endowed Fund in honor of Smith.
