She received her Doctorate of Optometry with honors at UAB School of Optometry. Dr. Turner completed her residency in Cornea and Contact Lens and received the Dr. George Mertz Contact Lens Residency Award. After her residency, she worked in a private practice in the Birmingham area. During her 11 years in private practice, Dr. Turner enjoyed teaching 4th year externs from UAB School of Optometry and seeing a variety of patients of all ages. After almost a decade of private practice, she joined the UAB faculty as a part time clinical assistant professor while still seeing patients in private practice. She participates in InfantSEE, a public health program designed to ensure that eye care becomes a fundamental part of infant wellness care.
