The Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses provides advanced clinical training for postgraduate optometrists. This extensive clinical experience allows residents completing the program to pursue professional opportunities that require a high level of expertise in the area of cornea and contact lenses, including specialty private practice, academia and industry.

The program offers diverse and comprehensive experience in the diagnosis and management of challenging cornea and contact lens cases using a wide variety of lens designs and materials. The resident averages several hundred new fits and refits a year in addition to hundreds of follow-up examinations. The program primarily involves direct patient care by the resident, but clinical supervision of students, teaching in clinical laboratories or workshops and attendance at contact lens meetings are also incorporated into the program.

Residency Conference
Residents attend a regularly scheduled weekly Residency Conference, which includes presentations by faculty and guests, grand rounds, case conferences, journal club, records review and other learning activities. In order to better develop the residents’ scholarship, a paper suitable for publication is required.
