BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB's Alys Stephens Center will present Béla Fleck and the Flecktones in "A Holiday Feast," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 in the center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Béla Fleck (banjo,) Victor Lemonte Wooten (bass,) Future Man (drumitar and acoustic percussion) and Jeff Coffin (winds) are back in all their bluegrass, funk, world music, pop and jazz glory. Their Grammy-winning holiday album "Jingle All The Way" includes a sparkling banjo-harmonic arrangement of "Christmas Time is Here," Joni Mitchell's "River," a Tuvan-inspired, world-beat performance of "What Child is This" and fiery renditions of "Sleigh Ride" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies." Acclaimed Tuvan throat singers Alash Ensemble will be joining Fleck and the Flecktones for the Alys Stephens Center show.
