This proclamation commemorates the official launch of UAB’s Live HealthSmart Alabama in Dothan and highlights the initiative’s efforts to make good health simple and accessible through free health screenings, education, preventive care resources and community partnerships.

“We’re excited to have this program in our city, and to collaborate with UAB,” Saliba said. “Thank you for being part of our community.”

Live HealthSmart Alabama is a transformative initiative by UAB that works alongside communities across the state to address health risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol through sustainable, community-driven solutions.

Teresa Shufflebarger, chief administrative officer for Live HealthSmart Alabama, attended the meeting and spoke about the importance of community collaboration in advancing long-term health outcomes.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of the Dothan community,” Shufflebarger said. “A focus on chronic disease is a focus on the health of our communities. Knowing your numbers is an important first step to owning your health, and to a healthier Dothan.”

By expanding into Dothan, Live HealthSmart Alabama continues its mission of improving health and wellness and making good health simple for all Alabamians.
