BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center presents an evening of celebration honoring young UAB researchers whose work holds the promise of new cancer cures.

The Third Annual Fiesta Ball is May 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Innovation Depot, 1500 First Ave. North. The Mexican-themed event includes live music, fiesta foods, beer and wine. Dress is casual.

Tickets are $25 per person and are available by calling 205-934-0034. For an additional $15, guests may order a table centerpiece in honor of a friend or loved one who has battled cancer.

More than 300 guests attended last year's Fiesta Ball organized by the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center's Young Supporters Board. Members of the board, established in 2006, are area professionals in their 20s and 30s committed to raising funds and awareness for the Cancer Center's research and patient services programs.
