BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Alys Stephens Center presents the Short Circuit Traveling Film Festival, featuring two screenings with a dinner break, 5-9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Ave. S., Birmingham.

The Southern Arts Federation's second annual Short Circuit Traveling Film Festival features 12 recent short films by filmmakers living and working in the Southeastern United States. The films are selected for their artistic merit by a panel of media-arts professionals. It is the nation's only tour of Southern films. The selections range from fiction and animation to experimental and documentary. This year, the festival features work by filmmakers from Georgia, Louisiana and Florida.

The festival features two screenings, each with a different lineup of films: the first screening is 5-6:30 p.m. and the second screening is 7-9:30 p.m. Between the screenings, enjoy a "Chat 'n Chew Dinner Break" with $10 box dinners. The box dinners must be reserved in advance. The dinners will feature Southern favorites like black eye pea salad, pecan chicken salad sandwich and a dessert. The festival also will feature a cash bar and a Southern crafts and artwork booth. Attend one event or all three: tickets to each screening are $10, dinners are $10, or enjoy both screenings and a box dinner for $25.
