BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Bradford Woodworth, M.D., assistant professor of surgery in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, has been named the James Johnston Hicks Endowed Chair in Otolaryngology. The appointment was made by the University of Alabama Board of Trustees.
Woodworth is a noted expert on sinus and nasal medicine. He came to UAB this year after completing a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in advanced sinus disease and minimally invasive surgery to repair or remove cerebrospinal fluid leaks and skull-base tumors.
Woodworth has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters on otolaryngology. His primary research and clinical interests are chronic sinusitis, cerebrospinal fluid leaks and cancer surgery techniques.
He earned his medical degree Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he was honored with numerous awards for scientific research and teaching.
