BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB School of Education students and Birmingham residents will be among the first in the nation to see C-SPAN ‘s new Campaign 2008 Bus as part of the “Road to the White House” tour, when the bus stops at UAB tomorrow morning February 28. UAB students will be the first college students featured on C-SPAN’s signature talk show, the “Washington Journal,” which airs 8-9 a.m. CDT weekdays. The UAB students will watch the program and participate in the call-in portion of the show.

The Campaign 2008 Bus is a 45-foot mobile production studio that is on the trail to promote and enhance C-SPAN’s comprehensive political coverage, traveling to major political events such as candidate debates and speeches in early primary states, touring state capitols, and also conducting educational programs for teachers and students.

The Birmingham events, in partnership with Bright House Networks, are part of the bus’s inaugural “Road to the White House” tour, named after C-SPAN’s renowned political program that marks its 20th year on the air in 2008.

The bus will be on the UAB campus from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at 901 13th St. S., next to the UAB School of Education. The bus will visit Ramsay High School that afternoon.

A revamped version of the network’s award-winning School Bus, the Campaign 2008 bus sports a new exterior design wrap in election themes along with interior modifications that include the latest television production equipment.
