BIRMINGHAM, Ala., -- UAB’s (University of Alabama at Birmingham) School of Health Related Professions will offer a certificate in Health Care Financial Management, for students pursuing the Master of Science degree in Health Administration.
Gerald L. Glandon, Ph.D., chair of the department of Health Services Administration, said that the growing complexities of financial situations within the health care industry today created a need to strengthen students’ understanding of health care finance.
“In today’s world, managers and administrators of health care institutions must have a greater understanding of the financial side of health care to efficiently manage their facilities and make wise business decisions,” he said. “Students graduating from our program will now have one more tool to help them compete in a crowded and competitive job market.”
The 18-hour Class A certificate, which will focus on the entire range of financial issues, was approved today by the Board of Trustees for the University of Alabama system.
