For the final performance of the 2016-2017 UAB Piano Series, Esther Park will perform a program of works by Beethoven, Schubert, Debussy and Messiaen.
Pizzarelli is among the prime revivalists of the great American songbook, and has expanded that repertoire by including the music of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Lennon-McCartney.

VOCALOSITY features some of today’s chart-topping hits in brand-new arrangements; but no genre of music is off limits, from doo-wop to Bruno Mars. One lucky a cappella group can perform as the opening act and receive complimentary tickets.

UAB’s Alys Stephens Center presents Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis on Jan. 18
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Wynton Marsalis, features 15 of the best soloists, ensemble players and arrangers in jazz music today. The Alys Stephens Center will also offer a special pre-performance dinner and A-level seating ticket package.
A free opening reception is planned for 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. In addition to his exhibition, Nader will meet with UAB photography students for a group critique that will be followed by a free, public gallery talk, scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 3.
In its new program, “Jelly, Rags and Monk,” featuring jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut, the group embraces a range of composers, from Jelly Roll Morton to Thelonious Monk, a genius of the modern jazz era.
AEIVA will present a free screening of the film "Side Effects" alongside a tour of the exhibition "Beverly Fishman: Another Day in Paradise," at 6:45 p.m. March 2. The film and exhibition are free and open to the public.
