A series of showcases by UAB Department of Art and Art History students will be featured this fall in Project Space, located on the first floor of the UAB Humanities Building.
“Chamber Music @ AEIVA” will begin at 5 p.m. and offer gallery viewing and a reception followed by a 30-minute concert at 5:30 p.m. featuring student and faculty performers.
A reimagining of “The Seagull” by playwright and director Aaron Posner, “SFB” is an edgy, irreverent and very funny new play being performed by professional companies across the country.
Benson will return to Birmingham for the first time in years, to perform his hits, including “On Broadway,” “Give Me the Night” and “This Masquerade,” as well as his explorations of Nat King Cole’s classic catalog.
The UAB Piano Series brings the world’s finest pianists to Birmingham. Krieger will perform a program of works by Beethoven, Lazarof, Chopin and Brahms.
A sensory-friendly performance will also be offered earlier in the day, in a supportive environment for an audience of families and friends with children or adults who are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other sensitivity issues.
A favorite at the Alys Stephens Center, Thile is set for a solo evening of flawless musicianship and mind-blowing musical exploration, from bluegrass to Bach and back again.
The fun kicks off with Japanese dance troupe Enra on Oct. 18, followed by a three-day celebration featuring arts and culture from three countries each day Oct. 19-21. Cantina food truck will be on-site.

With the Oakwood University Aeolians Choir and pianist Joel Martin, Battle will awe and inspire the audience with favorite spirituals. This is the only performance of this show in 2015.

Theatre UAB commissioned playwright Robert Earl Price to write a play instead of hosting a competition for the Ruby Lloyd Apsey Play Search. The free reading will feature a talkback with the playwright.

The free lecture “Spiritual Moderns: Twentieth Century American Artists and Issues of Religion” is sponsored in part by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History through the Jemison Visiting Professorship in the Humanities.
