Biography

Dr. Srikanth Iyer joined the UAB Department of Surgery in November 2022 as an Instructor in the Division of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Iyer obtained his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Immunology in New Delhi, India.

His research focus includes the pathogenesis of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Dr. Iyer’s research devises novel strategies to augment the pancreatic reparative process after chronic injury by understanding the acinar-to-ductal metaplasia (ADM) biology, the structures that form in the pancreas in response to an injury stimulus during acute and chronic pancreatitis.
