GATE 2025 – Neuroanatomy Review
The UAB Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology (CDIB), in conjunction with the Department of Medical Education, announces a professional development course in human gross anatomy with complete dissection for current and future high school and collegiate anatomy educators. This 3-day course includes didactic lectures, complete dissection, and interactive lessons within neuroanatomy.
Learning Objectives
- Conduct a complete dissection of the brain and spinal cord.
- Identify structures and pathways of the brain and spinal cord.
- Relate the structures and pathways of the brain and spinal cord to functions and syndromes.
- Understand imaging of the brain nad spinal cord.
Who should attend?
Dissection of the human body is a privilege that is often restricted to medical and/or students enrolled in health professions. Many anatomy educators at the high school or undergraduate level never get the opportunity to see and touch the actual human anatomy that they are teaching. We designed this course to provide that opportunity, specifically for current high school biology/anatomy teachers and undergraduate anatomy faculty at 2- and 4-year colleges and universities. We encourage graduate students and post-docs who plan to teach anatomy at either the secondary or the collegiate level to attend as well as graduate students from both the biomedical science departments and the School of Education.
