The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is committed to being an internationally renowned research university committed to enhancing the lives of people around the world through the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge. The Office of Sponsored International Programs (OSIP) was established in the Office of the Vice President for Research to facilitate international service, education, and research programs by building on experiences and by adapting University policy for international activities.

The responsibilities of the OSIP include the following:

  • to serve as an institutional resource for information regarding UAB’s international research, training and service programs;
  • to work with UAB faculty and existing and potential international partners to promote, develop and facilitate sponsored international research, training, and services programs;
  • to facilitate the establishment of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and linkage agreements (LA) with international partners; and
  • to facilitate communications and interactions between UAB’s international programs and entities responsible for compliance and oversight.
