I realized that I owe both you (Dianne), Dr. H, and the rest of the professors at UAB a debt of gratitude. Being that I am enrolled in another master’s program, I can clearly see that UAB was far and away superior to any other institution that I have been a part of. In my opinion, it was because of the abundance of knowledge and genuine concern for our success that sets your program heads and shoulders above the others.

Dianne, I just wanted to express my gratitude for all you have done for me over the last 18 months in the program. You have always been so kind and helpful with any and all issues. It has been a pleasure to have been a part of this program and I am so proud to be a UAB alumni and even more so a CEM graduate. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and allowing me the chance to learn and grow in my career. I will be forever grateful to you and Dr. H.

This program has definitely helped me grow as a person and as a professional. Almost everything that I do day-to-day at work has been brought up in one of the classes. I am bringing construction services in-house for my company, so we will now manufacture and also construct our greenhouse structures. It just shows that the value of this program is tremendous and applies very well to the real world. UAB has been a very good experience for me.

I really appreciate Dianne, Dr. H., Fran and all of the professors, and the assistance that they provided when I was struggling. I have taken away more than just the skills and knowledge of the program; I have grown as a person, learned to overcome challenges and to persevere.

I have great respect for you Dianne and the entire faculty. The program allows specialized education from far distances and you guys have created an impressive and interactive program that I would not have been able to do in a face to face classroom format. Because of this program, I have come away with great knowledge that I will discover through my future professional growth and development.

This program has pushed me to new levels that I thought I could never reach. I want to thank the courteous professors and staff that have made this feel more like a family rather than a student teacher relationship, which has made this experience even better. You (CEM staff) make the program a success by your countless efforts in making sure that we as students are successful.

I enjoyed the courses and the bond made with several of my teammates. I really enjoyed the construction law class and the interactive group approach taken during the mock mediation and arbitration. All in all, I have no doubt in my mind that this program will help me in my future endeavors.

Having an engineering bachelor’s degree, I was feeling that I was lacking certain management skills. I cannot tell you how awesome this was from the beginning, and after completing the first four courses I realized that this was probably one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. Being an international student I have gone to so many schools, five different institutions, but I will say that UAB is the best of all.

Through the help of all of my professors and departmental staff, I have learned tremendously and it is easy to perceive that you all LOVE what you do at UAB. Thanks a million!

I started pursuing the construction engineering management program to help me prepare for the construction engineering portion of the engineering license examination. It was important that this program is tailored to working professionals. I am now armed with new construction management skills, a thirst for more knowledge and will continue my education past this degree.

When I asked my supervisor how this program changed me over the past 18 months, she said that I was a better communicator, an innovative thinker, my team leading skills had improved, that I was more efficient and could handle a larger work load, and that I was more confident when making decisions. I want to thank all of the instructors for making this journey possible.

As an architect, this program switched my mind-set and the way I think from the design side to the build side. I recently became employed thanks to taking these classes because I can now do everything that they need for me to do. I want to start my own design-build company and these courses have allowed me to look further into how to run that company and make it profitable.

As a technical architect with the Army Corp of Engineers, I have taken what I have learned from this program and directly applied it to what I do at work. I had performed some project management duties prior to the CEM experience. I recently made the permanent transition to project management, and now I am the sole manager for over 18 different construction and design projects.

I had no idea how my career was going to evolve because of this program. The biggest benefit was that I was promoted from the plant into a management position. All that I learned from this program I was able to apply in my day-to-day life. I do not think that I would be as good as I am today without this program.

This was a challenging and rewarding experience. I have gained a greater appreciation for the construction industry through this program. It has spiked my curiosity, and made me ask why and how on a job site instead of just taking things for granted. Ultimately, what makes this program great is the professors’ eagerness and availability to help students. I will be forever changed because of the program.

I never met and educator who has such a passion for teaching like Dr. Hitchcock. The way that he engages with students and translates the information so that it can be understood is amazing. Now I have knowledge that can change my world.

I have been fortunate to find a position that allows me to use and grow my knowledge that I received from this program. It has put me on the fast track to becoming a project manager.

I started a new job as an estimator. I am very excited for this opportunity and it is a direct result of my degree from UAB. Dianne, Dr. H and all of the faculty put on a great program and it has allowed me to successfully make the career change that I was hoping for when I started the program.

I wanted to update my skills and credentials so that I could better take care of my family. It has been a program that has met my needs on every level.

The program was challenging but rewarding. It taught how to manage time and was what I needed to not just change my career, but to start it. This experience has benefited my professional and personal life.

The skills that I have learned in this program will definitely help advance my career throughout the company. Thanks to UAB for this wonderful opportunity.

I loved being in the program at UAB. Although frustrating at times, I do not regret one bit the time and effort and expense to invested in myself. Every single day I use something that I learned from the program.
