I have currently received three promotions since starting the program and hope to inspire other girls to pursue their dream in engineering.

The CEM program is exemplar in terms of providing relevant construction industry knowledge and flexibility. Because of this program, my experience, and recently expanded duties, I have risen to a senior vice president on a leadership team with a large design-build firm.

Because of the classes in the CEM program, I have gained a greater confidence in the work that I do every day. My supervisor would agree, because some of the younger folks in our company are starting the CEM program right now. The results coming out of the program speak for themselves and it is something that they believe in. My advancement in the company would not have been possible without this degree.

I got exactly what I thought I would from the program and then some. Like my military background, CEM is about discipline, learning, and work ethic, which forced me to be diligent and non-complacent. I am very excited about my future and career opportunities.

The CEM program offers incredible an immeasurable value. It is not an accident that I am seeing such positive results and opportunities in my career.

After building houses for several years, I recently applied for a position as an assistant project manager in the commercial construction industry. Without the challenges that the CEM program has given me, I do not feel that I would be prepared for this role. I feel that this degree helps jump start us late bloomers back to the front of the crowd. I would not trade this degree for the world, and it has given me the confidence to compete with the best of the best in the construction industry.

I cannot express how rewarding, yet challenging, the UAB CEM master's program actually is. It has given me the necessary skills to continue to evolve into a progressive forward-thinking project manager and has opened doors for advancement within my organization.

The UAB CEM program has taught me to be a proud woman in construction while working in a male dominated field. Absorbing and applying the knowledge gained within the CEM Program has led me to experience an abnormal acceleration and promotion within my company.

The curriculum is what lead me to choose the UAB CEM program. I was relatively new to the construction industry and felt like an imposter. The very valuable knowledge gained from the classes and from my groupmates have built my confidence.

I learned from the CEM program that we manage processes, but we lead people. We also have a cycle that we go through; we explore, we experiment, and we evolve. The value of that exploration has allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone to experiment with more responsibility. I could not have evolved more while at UAB and I owe it all to this program.

The CEM program has been the best education that I ever received. What I learned in the classroom and what I was doing on the jobsite went together. The knowledge from this program has exceeded my expectations, but my favorite part was the connections that I made with my classmates during group projects.

If I could speak to anyone considering the CEM program, I would say that a rewarding adventure awaits you.” It can be a humbling and challenging experience, but every step along the way will become well worth the journey. I recently found my dream job with a local general contractor and I found a new (alumni) family within the CEM program.

It has always been a dream of mine to own my own business. Because of this program and having the knowledge and resources from the courses, I feel ready to become an entrepreneur.

I was recently hired by a very large general contracting company in Texas. They mentioned that the CEM program was an integral part of me being successful as a candidate. In addition, I will receive a pay increase after graduation next month.

I have grown personally and professionally due to this CEM Program and learned that I can push through any challenge, persevere, and accomplish my goals.

I started the CEM program to expand my career and it has exceeded my expectations. I have gained valuable knowledge from every single course, and it is interesting to see how things that I learned in the classes keeps coming up in everyday life. Earning this degree was a big factor in negotiating my current salary because the amount was more than what the company had budgeted, but they could quickly see the value of this degree.

The CEM program and the group assignments have introduced me to people that I will be friends with for the rest of my life.

I looked at other colleges, but I was sold on UAB after the interview process. Thank you for building such a great program. It met my expectation and I will promote the program every chance I get.

The CEM courses quickly improved my construction knowledge, leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, and made me much more confident. The program has been life changing because it ultimately helped me achieve my goal of transitioning into a project manager’s role. An older superintendent told me to never stop learning if I wanted to advance in the construction industry. I had years of construction field knowledge, but I did not have much business or office experience. The CEM classes have been fantastic, expanded my knowledge, and also helped me build some outstanding professional contacts and relationships.

I knew that earning a master's degree would make me more valuable for my company and within the construction industry.

I wanted to capture an advanced degree because I was recently passed over for a promotion and I wanted to be poised and ready the next time the position becomes available. The trouble was that I was smart enough and could do the work, but I was not formally trained and credentialed. The CEM degree path has bridged the gap and now I can offer real project management solutions and strategies.

Thanks to this amazing program, I was just promoted to Civil Engineer I status by the county where I work. One of the best parts of the program are the friends that I have made from the very first group project. We communicate (network) multiple times per day, on weekends and even between terms.
