William Schneider began his professional career enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve and later in the U.S. Air Force. During his time in the military, he led Electronic Warfare testing for the B-1 Bomber fleet stationed at Dyess AFB and supported multiple deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). Following his military service, Mr. Schneider went on to support NASA’s space shuttle program and several air, naval, and land defense products for the U. S. Military and our allies. He has over twenty years of experience in the Systems Engineering field, during which he has made extensive contributions to aerospace and defense safety. His specialties include Model-based Systems Engineering, Model-based Safety, Systems Safety & Functional Safety, Human Systems Integration & Human Factors, Reliability, Requirements Management, Risk Management and Accident Investigation, Project Management, New Product Development, Systems Integration and Test, and Integrated Logistics Support.
Mr. Schneider is currently employed as a Model-based Systems Engineering/Model-based Safety consultant. In this role, he supports client implementation of MBSE and MBSA processes. Mr. Schneider has experience conducting MBSE and MBSA activities in several modelling tools including Catia Magic (CAMEO), Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody, and Medini Analyze. He has extensive experience performing qualitative and quantitative safety analysis including techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Event Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams, Systems-theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), and various Software Safety techniques. Additionally, Mr. Schneider serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and instructs in the Advanced Safety Engineering and Management (ASEM) program. In this role, he educates on the topics of Engineering Risk and Model-based Safety.
Mr. Schneider is currently a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, International Council on Systems Engineering, the System Safety Society, the Association of the U.S. Army, the Air Force Sergeants Association, and the National Eagle Scouts Association. He is an active community volunteer having served more than a decade as a registered and trained adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America. His positions have included Asst.
