Disability Advocates Organization

Disability Advocates Organization

UAB’s Disability Advocates Organization (DAO) is a student-lead group dedicated to shattering stigmas surrounding disabilities to create an inclusive and uplifting community for all students here at UAB. Our group organizes fun and interactive events around campus to help educate our school community on different disabilities, and to encourage students to “see the ability, not the disability."

Founded in Fall 2017, we are a fairly new group on campus and are currently recruiting new members. In 2019, we received the UAB President's Diversity Champion Award in the student organization category.

Whether you are a returning student or new to our community, we would love to have you as a part of our group! For more information on our organization or events, please email Suhas Kellampalli at suhask@uab.edu or visit the DAO Facebook page.
