Advising is the best way to set goals for your academic, professional, and personal life. Your experiences at UAB will change your life for the better if you set goals and then strive to achieve them.
Advising is a partnership. Your advisor won't simply tell you what to do — you will make decisions and changes as you begin your journey. Extracurricular experiences are important to academic and career success and we encourage you to seek opportunities outside the classroom as long as those experiences do not harm your academic progress. Balance is important! Advising is a collaborative learning process, and ultimately you are responsible for your educational experience and outcomes.
Who is My Advisor?
The Department of Biology has three academic advisors, all located on the third floor of the Science & Engineering Complex’s East Science Hall in suite 3100. They work with undergraduate students and students in the 5th Year program throughout their time at UAB, assisting them in preparing their class schedules, monitoring their academic progress, and offering guidance to those having difficulty.
Who your advisor is depends on your year, name, and program.
