James Allen Pittman Jr., M.D., who began his career here as a medical resident in 1956 and came to be considered a principal architect of the School of Medicine, passed away Jan. 12.
"He is one of the great people who, through his unwavering dedication, helped propel UAB’s growth into an institution that can and does change the world for the better,” said UAB President Ray Watts, M.D.
The family suggests gifts to the Dr. James A. Pittman, Jr., Memorial Fund at the School of Medicine at UAB.
