Our view: UAB's annual economic value to the metropolitan area and the whole state is worth protecting and nurturing

Brain training improves real-world activities of older adults

The study, led by scientists from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, John Hopkins University, Pennsylvania State University, Indiana University School of Medicine, the University of Florida/Wayne State University and other institutions, included 908 drivers (mean age 73.1) who drove a total of more than 25.5 million miles over the time of the study, were randomized into one of three different training programs or a control condition as part of the Advanced Cognitive Training for Independent and Vital Elderly (ACTIVE) clinical trial.
