After 25 years Boston Brass still achieves new levels in brass performance and treats its audiences to a unique musical experience, from exciting classical arrangements and jazz standards to breathtaking vocal harmony. The ensemble, which performs more than 100 shows annually, has several acclaimed recordings to its credit and often can be heard on National Public Radio's "Performance Today." The latest release, "Latin Nights," showcases the immense talent and range of capabilities of all five players: Jose Sibaja and Jeff Conner, trumpet; Chris Castellanos, horn; Lance Laduke, trombone and euphonium; and Andrew Hitz, tuba.

The ensemble's lively shows, touched with humor and personality, extend beyond classical formality to deliver great music and boisterous fun. On the program for the Alys Stephens Center show "Sunny Days and Latin Nights" are "Danza Final" from "Estancia" by Alberto Ginastera; "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart; "Tango Apasionado" by Astor Piazzolla; Bulgarian and Irish folk songs; a Latin-American suite arranged by Jose Sibaja and J.D. Shaw; "Malaguena" by Ernesto Lecuona; "Autumn Leaves" by Josef Kosma and Dave Brubeck; and "Blues for Ben" by Stanton Moore.

This show is part of the Birmingham Music Club Classically Inclined Series. It is made possible by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and is sponsored by the Birmingham Music Club Guild, National Endowment for the Arts, The Birmingham News, WBHM and Viva Health.
