BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Education will host the Research on Women and Education 35th annual fall conference Oct. 8-10 at the Courtyard By Marriott, 1820 Fifth Ave. South. College and university faculty, K-12 teachers, education students and teacher educators are invited to attend. To register, visit the Web site at www.rwesig.net/fallconference.html.

The conference will present the latest research on issues related to equity and diversity. Shirley Malcom, Ph.D., director of education and human resources for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will deliver the keynote speech at noon Friday, Oct. 9. Malcom is a nationally renowned expert on education and science literacy.

Other speakers will include author and lecturer David Sadker, Ed.D., a nationally renowned expert on gender equity in the classroom and co-author of the book, Failing at Fairness. He will present an interactive workshop for K-12 teachers and teacher educators and discuss findings from his most recent publication, Still Failing at Fairness.

The conference speakers also will include Dolores Grayson, Ph.D., executive director of GrayMill Consulting, which is dedicated to promoting education and the equitable treatment of students. The UAB School of Education will assist teachers seeking CEU credit for their participation in this session.
