BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB BookTalk, sponsored by the UAB English Department, is a free book discussion group that is open to the public.

UAB BookTalk meets 6-7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month, excluding January, in the UAB Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Second Floor, Henley Room, 917 13th St. S. Discussions are led by UAB Department of English faculty members. For more details, call the UAB English Department at 205-934-4250.

The books that will be discussed during winter and spring of 2009 are the following:

Feb. 3 - 6-7 p.m., UAB Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Second Floor, Henley Room, 917 13th St. S. "Kim," by Rudyard Kipling; The discussion will be led by UAB instructor Manny Blacksher.

March 3 - 6-7 p.m., UAB Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Second Floor, Henley Room, 917 13th St. S. "Winter's Bones," by Daniel Woodrell; The discussion will be led by UAB Assistant Professor Ann Hoff, Ph.D.

April 7 - 6-7 p.m., UAB Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Second Floor, Henley Room, 917 13th St. S. "Quantum Genesis and Other Poems," by Philip Fried; The discussion will be led by UAB Associate Professor Robert J. Collins, Ph.D.

May 5 - 6-7 p.m., UAB Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Second Floor, Henley Room, 917 13th St. S. "An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England," by Brock Clarke; The discussion will be led by UAB Professor Bill Hutchings, Ph.D.
