BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Music presents a faculty recital entitled "Shall We Dance?" at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 23, in the Alys Stephens Center's Reynolds Kirschbaum Recital Hall, 1200 10th Ave. S.  Admission is free. "Shall We Dance?" features Denise Gainey, D.M.A., clarinet, and Dale Reynolds, piano, assisted by soprano Kristine Hurst, D.M.A. The music selected for the program celebrates different kinds of dances. On the program is "Tonada y Cueca" by Carlos Guastavino; Six German Songs, Op. 103, by Louis Spohr; "Peregi Verbunk" Op. 40, by Leo Weiner; Hillendale Waltzes by Victor Babin; Siete Canciones populares Espanolas by Manuel de Falla; and "Dante Dances" by Dan Welcher.

This recital will be presented on tour at the University of Kentucky November 2, and at Mars Hill College, N.C., November 4.
