Sarah Malcom of Alabaster has combined her interests in accounting and solving mysteries. She will graduate May 3 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting with a minor in criminal justice. She is the daughter of Steven and Amy Malcom and a 2004 graduate of Hope Christian School.

Malcom, whose degree includes a concentration in forensic accounting and IT auditing, will go to Washington, D.C., this summer for an internship with the FBI. She has been fascinated with calculators and cash registers since an early age. When she was 7 and her friends were getting dolls and toy ovens for Christmas, she wanted a cash register and a rubber date stamp. After she arrived at UAB, she discovered the forensic accounting and IT auditing program, which will allow her to practice accounting and help uncover fraud.

After graduation and the internship, Malcom will pursue an MBA at UAB.
