BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Honors Program have been selected for the Bryce Harlow Institute on Business and Government Affairs summer program at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.

Nic [cq] Carlisle, 22, a senior finance major from Daleville, and Lucy Jones, 20, a senior English major from Huntsville, are among the more than 40 undergraduate students across the United States selected for the program.

The Bryce Harlow Institute is a seven-week internship and educational program. Students attend classes at Georgetown University to study the economics of politics and to learn how companies represent their interests in Washington D.C. Students also meet with government relations and lobbying experts from various industries and work as interns at major national corporations or trade associations. In addition, the Bryce Harlow Institute provides scholarships up to $3,500 to the students based on financial need, as well as academic excellence, extracurricular achievement and leadership qualities.

Carlisle is an intern at the National Federation of Independent Business. Jones is an intern at the National Council of Agricultural Employers (NCAE).
