BIRMINGHAM, AL — Forty-two of the nation’s most prestigious health care organizations will gather in Birmingham to focus on the newest regulatory issues and computerized billing practices associated with healthcare management.

The Management Services Organization of the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation will host the four-day conference, which will be held at the Wynfrey Hotel and Conference Center November 11-14. Feature presentations will be made by representatives from Emory University, Wake Forest, University of Virginia, University of Florida and University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“We are so proud of the opportunity to serve as host,” said Andy Hare, an associate director of the MSO. “UAHSF continually has proven to be a leader in the area of healthcare practice management and this honor is yet another example of that.”

UAHSF, a member of the UAB Health System, formed the Management Services Organization in 1999 to consolidate its procedures and operating systems to better manage revenue-cycle-related activities such as billing and accounts-receivables. The MSO is a member of the IDX Strategic Users Network, a select group of clients who use the IDX Healthcare Practice Management Suite. IDX is the premier computerized billing software used by the nation’s largest healthcare centers such as Emory, Johns Hopkins, Duke and Yale.

The MSO has been nationally recognized for its outstanding performance, and, for the last two years, has been invited to speak on model performance at the United HealthSystems Consortium national conferences. Additionally, the MSO was invited by IDX Corporation to present as a “best practice” during the 2002 National IDX Users Conference in Boston.
