UAB's Gary Mans Elected to National Post

Gary Mans, director of public relations at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been elected Chair of the Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA) for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Gary Mans, director of public relations at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been elected Chair of the Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA) for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The GIA is composed of the development, alumni relations, public relations and marketing representatives at the 125 academic medical schools throughout the nation. It has a membership of approximately 800.

As the director of public relations at UAB, Mans has day-to-day responsibility for the university’s public relations program, which comprises 12 schools and the clinical health enterprise.
